Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shakar was an American and British sitarist. She was the first woman of her generation to be awarded the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is among India's rising stars in the sitar. She is the student and child of Ravi Shankar. Her birthplace was London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam between London New Delhi. When she was only 13, her first show in New Delhi took place. She then moved into Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in 1999. Although she is still very young, Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording. For a long time she regularly performs with her father. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. The Grammy Award-winning Live at Carnegie Hall was released two years after her debut solo album. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka's career does not only involve music. In 2002 she published an autobiography titled Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is an illustrated biography that is a respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she was an Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shakar's profession is only going to continue to expand and grow. We can look forward to seeing many different things that she does. Anoushka Shankar is an English born singer who travelled her childhood between London, Delhi and California. She began studying music at age 9 and played the sitar to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. The father of Anoushka travelled the world with her and she also gained a variety of opportunities. While still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. As a tribute to her status as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
